About Yumiko Iijima
Born in Japan, based in London for many year Yumiko has been working as a goldsmith for over 20 years for established high end jewellery companies and individual contemporary jewellers. She launched her own very first collection in 2019.
Yumiko designs uncomplicated yet refined pieces that approach wearing with a sense of ease. The collections are inspired by her memory of inspirations and design notes from the past two decades. She aims to combine craftsmanship with creativity, contemporary design with timeless style. Making has been a natural talent since childhood. It was her high school best friend who suggested that she could be a successful jeweller!
Yumiko loves intriguing visuals and draws inspiration from the search for the perfect.
She makes samples with brass, copper, silver or wax, wearing test pieces to fully understand how they sit. Drawing on her years of design experience for others she uses old and new techniques without boundaries. In her second year of business, all designs are new, focusing on excellent quality and attention to detail, most importantly ensuring that pieces are made to last both through making and design.
