Janice Hosegood in conversation with Caiyang Yin

In 2021 as part of the Fair’s talk programme curator Janice Hosegood, spoke to jeweller Caiyang Yin about his bold jewellery and how recent events have changed his unique practice.

Caiyang Yin is a contemporary jewellery artist based in Birmingham, currently working as an artist in residence at the School of Jewellery, Birmingham City University. Most of his work has sculptural aesthetics, in which both traditional and modern techniques are adopted to express the artist’s thoughts, especially about people’s statement of mind in our current fast-paced society.

Janice Hosegood is a writer, curator and a contemporary jewellery authority. She is co-author of ‘Barbara Cartlidge and Electrum Gallery’ published by Arnoldsche, and has written frequently for Goldsmiths’ Review and Goldsmiths’ Stories. Janice curated ‘The Art of Collecting’ exhibition at Goldsmiths’ Fair in 2019 and has been involved with significant projects at the Crafts Council, the Victoria and Albert Museum and Ruthin Craft Centre. Janice is currently Head of Communications at Cockpit Arts.
