Sian Evans
About Sian Evans
With inspiration from art and archaeology, botany and ancient technologies, Sian’s goldsmithing is both fluid and textural. The complex forms and surfaces in her work are created using recycled gold and stones which form the majority of the materials in her collections and bespoke pieces. The question of ethics and closed loop sustainability; the sourcing suitable materials and methods of making have shaped the design process of recent works. It’s important to Sian that as few new materials are used in her work as possible in an effort to do no more harm to fragile ecosystems that the mining of new materials causes.
Maker Enquiry Form
Over the years Sian has become an expert in lo fi casting techniques which she uses in her collections to create sculptural forms and rich textures. She alloys gold to create subtly different colours to combine with the vintage stones she collects from her customers for her bespoke work.
