Mikala Djørup

About Mikala Djørup

Mikala’s work is rooted in her traditional jewellery training and her Scandinavian background. Making one-of-a-kind jewellery is Mikala’s main interest, as each piece is unique with its own distinct personality. Modern with a glance back to tradition, she wants her work to be worn and enjoyed. She has a great love of pearls, especially Tahitian and Sout Sea pearls which are almost always present in her designs.

Mikala prefers strong and simple shapes. Elements of repetition and movement are often present, as well as unusual pearls and gemstones. And she does not mind imperfection. She believes that whilst imperfection is great and can be just what you want, a little inclusion, bump or flaw can add character to a stone or a pearl.
