Maria Frantzi

About Maria Frantzi

Metal and stones is my personal language and my vocabulary to articulate my thoughts and feelings. I transform into jewellery everything that inspires from the world around me.
I find the process of making very meditative and it helps me to channel and focus my thoughts.
I love the physicality of my work. The strong connection with materials and the stories behind them.
I also like the connection I develop with the people that commission my work. Their personal stories are my strongest inspiration and what makes my work so interesting and gratifying.

Maria Frantzi works with traditional hand-made techniques to create her distinctive jewellery. As she loves texture and colour, hammering, forging, granulation, married metals and stone setting, from bezel to micro-pave, are part of her vocabulary. Recently she has incorporated 3D wax printing for some of her new pieces as she tries to explore the possibilities of new technology and their dialogue with traditional jewellery making.
