About Lois Lo
Lois Lo is a Hong Kong–born jewellery designer whose work explores line, structure, and perception. After discovering an affinity for metal, she completed a BA in Jewellery Design at Central Saint Martins and an MA at the Royal College of Art in 2023. Her practice challenges traditional hierarchies in jewellery through inventive stone-setting techniques and advanced laser welding. Drawing from construction methods and product design, she carves and stacks gemstones as architectural forms to create refined contemporary pieces. In 2026, she was awarded Preziosa Young, following Gold in Laser Technology and Silver in Creative Setting at the GC&DC Awards in 2025.

Each gemstone is first calibrated to achieve close uniformity in size and proportion. Precise slots are then carved into the baguette-cut stones, allowing fine metal wires to interlock seamlessly within the structure. Using advanced laser-welding techniques, each wire is meticulously fitted and secured to every stone. Treating gemstones as architectural building elements, different designs are composed to highlight varying aspects of the gemstone, including the girdle, crown, and pavilion. Each piece is then carefully polished and cleaned to achieve a refined finish that emphasises both precision and materiality.
