About Leonid Dementiev
Leonid Dementiev is inspired by his family heritage, his great-grandfather was a talented blacksmith and silversmith in the Southern region of river Don, a self-taught master artisan, famous for the quality of his work and highest level of craftsmanship. Leonid shares the same passion and work ethic. After earning a design degree at Central Saint Martins he worked for a number of years developing his own unique style and studying the old techniques of his ancestor so that he could translate them into works of gold, pearls and gemstones.

Meet Leonid Dementiev
Inspired by his family heritage, especially his great grandfather – a blacksmith Leonid spent time exploring the techniques his ancestor had used in his work and then mixed it with traditional goldsmithing skills. The outcome of his explorations led to working with wire of precious metals, baroque pearls and gemstones. In this video you can see that the process is melting metal and then shaping and forming it into a long continuous wire. Through bending wire into a wave pattern Leonid creates strong but light, playful and sophisticated designs where each piece is unique.
