About Jessica Awari-Tefé
Jessica Awari-Tefé is a British-Nigerian silversmith and jeweller based in the Scottish Borders whose practice is shaped by a background in materials engineering and metallurgy, alongside a deep engagement with nature, storytelling and traditional craftsmanship. Recently appointed a fellow of Bishopsland Educational Trust, her work draws on seasonal rhythms and the poetry of the natural world, translating these influences into sculptural objects and jewellery in precious metal.
Trained in the UK and Japan, Awaritefe specialises in chasing and repoussé alongside traditional Japanese metalworking and decorative techniques, informed by the historic influence of japonisme.

A current artist-in-residence at the Marchmont Silversmithing workshop, Jessica’s work has been recognised through a range of awards and professional opportunities. Her career has included formative experience with Stephen Webster, Miriam Hanid and Bleue Burnham, where she worked as a full-time maker across multiple collections. She received the Leopard Rising Stars Award in 2022 and was selected for the Goldsmiths’ Centre’s Spotlighting Getting Started cohort in 2025. In 2026, Retail Jeweller magazine named her one of its ‘Rising Stars: 30 Under 30’. Her work has been exhibited across various exhibitions and fairs in the U.K. reflecting her growing presence within the contemporary silversmithing and jewellery field.
