Jean Scott-Moncrieff
About Jean Scott-Moncrieff
Originally a graphic designer I enrolled on a jewellery evening class and was thrilled to make a brass ring – I loved the processes to achieve the finished ring. I set up a workbench at home and, while working in publishing, attended various masterclasses with established makers. In 2000 I became a full time jeweller and since then have exhibited widely and worked on commissions for private clients. My work is influenced by ancient Mediterranean cultures and is all made using traditional tools in my Sussex workshop. I love the colours and malleability of precious metals and the beauty of gemstones.

Jean chooses gemstones for colour and cut; cabochons, old-cuts and rose-cuts are her favourites as they suit the archaeological style of her work, but she believes that some modern brilliant cuts work well too. Jean turns to a gorgeous variety of gemstones, some zingy, some subtle, many with unique inclusions which add to their allure.
