Francisca Onumah

About Francisca Onumah
Emerging Business Bursary recipient, supported by the Betts Metals Group
Inspired by vulnerable anthropomorphic forms, Ghanaian born and Sheffield based silversmith Francisca Onumah’s practice focuses mainly on creating sculptural contemporary objects. She creates tactile figurative vessels as well as jewellery that are imbued with the sensitivities of human like characteristics. Working with sheet metal, using a variety of silversmithing techniques, the objects are layered with an amalgamation of textures and patterns which are shaped into vessels and jewellery that mimic figurative forms as well as minimalistic silhouettes. The objects are then finished with a juxtaposition of dusky oxidised finishes and subdued matte silver highlights, creating a shadowy scenery of tactility.
