Claire Underwood

About Claire Underwood
Claire is an award-winning silversmith and jeweller with over 30 years of experience. A graduate of the Royal College of Art and recipient of The Worshipful Company of Goldsmiths Award for Silversmithing in 1991, she has exhibited widely across the UK and internationally. Having lived in Nigeria, Russia, America, India, Thailand, and Vietnam, Claire infuses her work with vibrant influences from around the world. Now based in London, she creates exquisite pieces in silver and 18ct gold, incorporating rich textures, subtle movement, and colourful accents using enamel, gemstones, and glass beads.
Her jewellery is both timeless and globally inspired.

Claire’s passion for jewellery and love of colour were ignited during childhood visits to Africa. Inspired by the intricate beadwork of the Maasai people she encountered in Kenya, her early designs reflected their vibrant artistry. While at college, Claire began working with enamelled surfaces and melted glass beads, combining bold colour with experimental techniques. Today, she continues to explore inventive ways of incorporating colour, texture, and movement into her work. From delicately attaching gemstones or glass beads that shift with the wearer, to handcrafting tiny enamelled elements. Each piece is a unique fusion of craftsmanship and playful elegance.
