Catherine Hartley

About Catherine Hartley

An interest in the rhythms and patterns of the natural world is woven throughout Catherine’s practice. Her work is a study of the quiet power of passing time and of nature’s continual cycles — the shifting seasons, the phases of the sun and moon, and the steady movement of the tides.

Drawing on the rich colors and unique properties of metals, Catherine often joins contrasting alloys to amplify the beauty of each. Told through minimal forms, her creations speak of the interconnectedness of natural forces and their eternal ebb and flow.

Born on the west coast of Canada, Catherine trained in Vancouver before moving to London in 2016. Growing up between the sea and the mountains, the landscapes of her Canadian roots continue to influence her designs, alongside those of her more recent home in the UK.
