Charlotte Dew and Greg Parsons, curators of the recent Goldsmiths’ Centre exhibition Interwoven, are joined by Fair exhibitors Caitlin Murphy and Gilly Langton to explore the creative connections between contemporary jewellery and textiles. Discover how jewellers and metalworkers are unravelling inspiration from textiles, diving into new processes to manipulate metal and push their work in fresh directions. This talk complements an edited showcase of Interwoven on display at this year’s Goldsmiths’ Fair.

About the speaker:

Charlotte Dew is a curator, writer and consultant, specialising in 20th century and contemporary craft. She is head of public programmes at the Goldsmiths’ Centre, London. Charlotte previously held curatorial roles at the Crafts Council, The National Archives, The Mercers’ Company and The Women’s Library, curating exhibitions across a broad spectrum of craft, social and political history themes. In 2022, she published her first book Women for Peace: Banners from Greenham Common. Charlotte has contributed to publications including Crafts, Ceramic Review, Heritage Interpretation Association Journal, Museums Journal and the Tate’s Radical Landscapes exhibition catalogue.

Gregory Parsons is an independent curator and consultant working in the applied arts. Over the last 17 years, he has curated some seminal exhibitions across the vast spectrum of applied arts. He has built relationships with many arts institutions in the UK and overseas, including Ruthin Craft Centre, Crafts Council, Cockpits Arts, Design & Crafts Council of Ireland, Bishopsland Educational Trust, The Hub and Nuno, Japan. From 2019 to 2020, Gregory worked as interim deputy curator of the Goldsmiths’ Company Collection. He now works as curatorial associate for the Goldsmiths’ Centre on a part-time basis.
