Romilly Saumarez Smith

About Romilly Saumarez Smith
When Romilly designs, a piece will often come fully formed into her head, she sees it in the space at the front of her brain above the eyes, then it can be deconstructed into its component parts to see whether it is possible for it to work. The piece is then physically made by her three “translators” Rachel Jones, Carola Solcia and Laura Ngyou. She describes her translators as having “become her hands as her own don’t work any more”. Romilly is always aware of the organic nature of what she does, applauding the natural world that constantly does it better.
