Maria Frantzi

About Maria Frantzi

Maria Frantzi loves working with 18ct green gold and oxidised fine and sterling silver and has an endless fascination for all kinds of precious and semi-precious stones.
Colours, patterns and texture are at the centre of her work. She tries, through her jewellery, to interpret the world around her and incorporate her endless interest in older civilisations, paintings and architecture in her designs. She likes her pieces to be both playful and timeless, carrying the memories of the people that wear them to future generations and she enjoys tremendously to work on special commissions, reusing and recycling clients’ metal and stones.

Maria Frantzi works with traditional hand-made techniques to create her distinctive jewellery. As she loves texture and colour, hammering, forging, granulation, married metals and stone setting, from bezel to micro-pave, are part of her vocabulary. Recently she has incorporated 3D wax printing for some of her new pieces as she tries to explore the possibilities of new technology and their dialogue with traditional jewellery making.
