Teri Howes

About Teri Howes
Ruffle. Pleat. Drape. Gather. Thread is in Teri’s DNA. Her work is inspired by the drape and fold of fabric.
Using filamental gold she crochets flowing forms in liquid shapes. Miniature sculptures and rich textures are adorned with tiny diamonds, light dancing across myriad surfaces to mesmerise and beguile.
Revelling in the handmade – of craftsmanship practiced and perfected – Teri has a devotion to quiet and honest labour.
Using only antique crochet hooks, found or donated, Teri feels connected through time to generations of hand workers, quietly creating their timeless treasures.
Step into her micro world of wonder.

With her signature textile techniques, Teri transforms cold, hard metal into soft tactile treasures that beg to be touched and worn.
Evolving her techniques over time from traditional hand skills including crochet, knitting and french-knitting.
Thread is replaced with high carat gold and silver in widths less than a milimetre thick, often drawn down by hand.
Working with precious metal is a lifelong journey and an honour for Teri who sources ethical materials including recycled gold and fair mined gems.
