Samuel Waterhouse

About Samuel Waterhouse
Samuel is a self-taught jeweller and silversmith specialising in the Korean technique Keum Boo. His work derives from the art of antiquity – in particular from the shape and form of ancient ceramics, the mechanisms of ancient metalwork and the patterns found in ancient painting.
By creating his own alloys of gold he has further developed the technique of Keum Boo enabling him to create patterns made of a variety of white, green, yellow and pure gold. He therefore uses this development to illustrate and pattern his work; occasionally oxidising exposed silver in order to create a dramatic contrast.
