Martin Cameron

About Martin Cameron

Martin Cameron is a goldsmith whose collections explore the rich visual language of medieval Europe, transforming ancient symbols into contemporary jewellery. His collections are inspired by the expressive sun and moon faces found in medieval manuscripts, ancient mythology and astrology.

Based in Northern Ireland, Martin’s practice is driven by a commitment to traditional craftsmanship and thoughtful design, believing the finest jewellery should feel as though it has always existed—that it has been discovered rather than manufactured.

Working predominantly in yellow gold, fine silver and precious gemstones, Martin meticulously hand-carves, sets and finishes each design himself all in his studio. Rather than recreating historical jewellery, Martin distils the atmosphere, symbolism and humanity of the medieval world into a distinctly contemporary body of work with a sense of quiet intrigue. Celestial faces, sacred ornament, lustrous gemstones and time-worn surfaces become recurring motifs, celebrating the belief that jewellery can hold memory, meaning and wonder long after it is made.
