Stacey Bentley – Rhythm

We are excited to welcome back Stacey Bentley to this year’s Goldsmiths’ Fair. Her current exhibition Rhythm takes place at the Scottish Gallery, Edinburgh until 1 July. Stacey has been working as a designer and maker for 6 years and is based in Edinburgh, having graduated from Edinburgh College of Art with an MA in Jewellery. Her work is known for its bold enamelled geometric patterns. Stacey explained that the intense colour that the enamel produces is what drew her to the process and that her aim is to fuse traditional and contemporary enamel techniques ‘ by manipulating the temperature of the kiln as well as playing with the type and consistency of the enamel and the texture of its fired surface.’ Through her experimental process, Stacey’s pieces have a unique range of finishes such as stylish matte enamel, striking polished silver and subtle roll printed gold. Stacey’s new collection has been inspired by Islamic art and pattern, Egyptian architecture, Japanese symbols and African jewellery techniques. Using a mix of materials such as vitreous enamel, oxidised silver and gold leaf, Stacey has created a range of bold and unique pieces that she will be exhibiting at the Fair later this year. See Stacey at Goldsmiths’ Fair week 2, stand 2. Book tickets now > Her exhibition Rhythm is showing at The Scottish Gallery from now until 1 July 2017.
