As part of our Goldsmiths’ Fair 2016 Talks Programme, jewellery authority and curator Corinne Julius was in discussion with silversmiths Juliette Bigley and Hazel Thorn about the Contemporary British Silversmiths’ exhibition Silver Speaks: Idea to Object.
Juliette and Hazel both talk about the creative process in making their distinctive work, and Corinne speaks on the curation of Silver Speaks, which seeks to illustrate the creative process of contemporary silversmiths, retaining their sketches and models used in the process of making their exhibition pieces.

Silver Speaks is a year long series of events to be held around the country to celebrate the exceptional level of creativity and skill in British silversmithing today. The programme of events has been organised by Contemporary British Silversmiths, the leading association for design-based contemporary silver, which is sponsored by the Goldsmiths’ Company. The focus of the programme, Silver Speaks: Idea to Object and the supporting public symposium Silver in Contemporary Life, are produced in collaboration with the V&A.
The exhibition is on display at the V&A until 2nd July 2017 > www.silverspeaks.co.uk
