As part of our 2016 talks programme, Curator and Art Director of the Goldsmiths’ Company Rosemary Ransome Wallis gave a Breakfast Talk on the Company’s modern jewellery collections.
In this talk, Rosemary speaks about the 1961 landmark ‘International Exhibition of Modern Jewellery 1890-1961’ at Goldsmiths Hall, which initiated the modern jewellery collection at the Hall and at the Victoria & Albert Museum.
The total number of jewels in the Company Collection today is 519 modern British jewels and 80 modern foreign jewels. We have acquired 68 pieces since the millennium.
