Goldsmiths’ Fair 2018: Excellence Made

June 13, 2018

The finest goldsmithing and silversmithing, for all its dirty workshops and weathered instruments, is all about innovation and refinement.  An alchemy of technique and inspiration, forged through experimentation, and appealing to intellect and passion alike.  The resulting treasures embody the rich narrative of craftsmanship, informed by the personality of the maker and the materials, and skilfully made into contemporary form.

Keep reading our blog and following us on social media to see this year’s film based on these themes of making and inspiration.

Now in its 36th year, Goldsmiths’ Fair has built a solid reputation as the foremost destination for precious metal fine jewellery and contemporary silver from the best independent designer craftsmen working in the UK today.

This year we are delighted to be showing the latest collections from 138 jewellers and silversmiths across two weeks, an array of industry ‘insider’ talks and ‘meet the maker’ events, exhibitions from the Company’s almost 700-year-old collection of treasures, a film installation and special guest curated showcases.

Talks Programme:

A comprehensive programme of talks runs throughout the Fair hosted by industry specialists and experts, including Dr Jack Ogden, jewellery historian,; Louisa Guinness, Gallerist; Kathryn Jones, Senior Curator of Decorative Arts for the Royal Collection Trust and Carol Michaelson, Curator, Department of Asia, British Museum.

Tickets available soon.

Graduate Bursary Programme:

Each year we identify ten fine jewellery and contemporary silver stars of the future, provide customised training and a free stand at the Fair as a way to provide exposure for these exciting new talents. It’s a highly sought-after platform for emerging designer-makers which regularly leads to sales and commissions that otherwise might take years to achieve.  View this year’s Graduates.
