Modern Buffet Plate

We are delighted to be displaying the Goldsmiths’ Company’s Modern Buffet Plate at this year’s Fair. This will be the first time the buffet plate has been on display to the public. The Modern Buffet Plate was commissioned in 2014 to showcase the work of contemporary makers at Company Dinners in the Livery Hall. It is a modern version of the original buffet display commissioned by the Company in 1740-1, realised by the most eminent makers of the day, including Paul de Lamerie. The Modern Buffet Plate features the work of several Goldsmiths’ Fair exhibitors past and present, including Miriam Hanid and Angela Cork.  The plate demonstrates the creative talent of makers working in the United Kingdom today. Some of the pieces in the plate are shown below, along with a photograph of the Company’s original Buffet Plate – follow us on social media to see images of the plate during the Fair.
