About Zoe Watts
Zoë is an award-winning silversmith and jeweller working with traditional techniques in order to create beautiful, tangible pieces that express her fascination with elemental beauty.
She is intent upon translating the undulation and movement of natural energy into her pieces and enjoys the process of watching relief, shape, form and texture evolving from precious metal sheet.
Her specialist techniques include the ancient art of Chasing, Repoussé and Snarling. These age-old techniques are a key element to her silversmithing pieces.
Meet Zoe Watts
Chasing and repoussé is an ancient technique where hand-fashioned steel punches and hammers are used to knock depth, pattern and texture into the surface of the silver. It is a beautiful and effective way of creating a sense of life and breathing movement into what is effectively a solid surface. Over time, thousands of strike marks gradually sculpt, manipulate and draw into the metal. Each piece is therefore totally unique.
