About Tanja Ufer
Tanja creates sculptural silver and gold jewellery with a colourful range of gemstones such as Opal, Emeralds, Quartzes, Sapphires and sometimes a Meteorite lands as well.
The work starts with basic geometric forms which are developed into wearable objects. The gem stones become the prominent part of the jewels and are combined with gold, silver and Korean Keumboo (ancient Korean gold fusing technique).
Tanja undertook an apprenticeship at the Pforzheim Goldsmithing school in Germany before completing her Masters degree in Metalwork and Jewellery at Sheffield Hallam University in 1999.
Since then she has gained recognition with many exhibitions nationally and internationally.
