This year’s Fair includes a one-off exhibition display John Donald: Precious Statements, featuring highlights from the pioneering career of British jeweller, John Donald. A leading figure in Britain’s jewellery Renaissance in the 1960s, Donald exhibited in the groundbreaking International Exhibition of Modern Jewellery at Goldsmiths’ Hall in 1961 and a few years later HRH Princess Margaret and HRH Queen Elizabeth the Queen Mother both became patrons of his work. Donald’s experimental techniques – including working with molten gold in water – and use of asymmetrical natural minerals, contributed to the creation of abstract sculptural expressions, which continue to influence designers today.
