Broadening the Scope: Jewellers and Silversmiths of Colour in conversation.

As platforms continue to open up to showcase more diverse perspectives and narratives, we gain insight into all that people of colour bring to the table.

Here Melanie Eddy brings together an incredibly talented group of individuals working in fine jewellery and silversmithing to discover their practices, values and approaches to creating spectacular pieces for you and your home.

Panel: Vania Leles – VanLeles Diamonds, Ryan Nelson – Ryan Nelson London, Ndidi Ekubia MBE – Silversmith, Shola Branson – Fine Jeweller, Shivani Patel – Jeweller

From her London studio based in the Goldsmiths’ Centre  Melanie Eddy creates sculptural jewellery that uses geometry as a tool to explore the relationship of form to the body. Melanie is a key academic on the MA Design: Ceramics Furniture and Jewellery programme at Central Saint Martins College of Art and Design and is a Director of The Association for Contemporary Jewellery. She is consistently involved in projects relating to her field; sector development, research and writing are examples. She is currently involved in a number of initiatives looking at diversity within the jewellery trade and is one of the founders of The Jewellery Futures Fund looking to effect change through a programme of scholarships, paid internships and wider industry engagement.
