40 years, 40 makers is an exhibition that explores the development of the Goldsmiths Company Collection in showing the work of 40 makers, each of whom is represented by one piece made since 1983. The pieces are grouped chronologically, with 30 silversmiths and 10 jewellers to reflect the composition of the Collection. There is extraordinary diversity on view, both in terms of style, design and techniques. Each piece has been chosen to be characteristic of its maker.
Join Goldsmiths’ Company Curator Dr Dora Thornton as she discusses the curation of this exhibition, whilst looking at some of the spectacular pieces throughout time and reflecting upon the fascinating history of our trade.
